About Jimmy vs. World!
Man chases his dreams. Life punches his face.
Series and blog created by Los Angeles-based animator Sean Rohani
I was a bit taken aback by the comments concerning clothes… As a hiring manager I appreciate that a candidate dressing the part, but this strikes me as style over substance. If I knew that I was interviewing with somebody who was going to base their hiring decision on my choice of interview attire, it would be an indicator that this is not a culture that I would choose to embrace.
That is important to note. Of course the tips mentioned in this infographic aren’t 100% guarantees, and as you said, HR departments that respond well to these tips may not be for everyone. Unfortunately, several companies do their hiring through HR departments that aren’t as familiar with the specific requirements of open positions, so they sometimes focus on more superficial qualities. On the other hand, you might have places that will offer you a job regardless of your appearance. An example would be one of my colleagues, who landed a computer programming position despite attending his interview in pajamas!
